From Form's work is mainly simplistic abstracted forms with a focus on symbolism. As a group we wanted to interpret this style from the artist's into our poster design for Screen-print. With that in mind we each came up with initial ideas before developing one each further digitally. This enabled us to create a broader range of ideas and possible outcomes. This helped us decide which poster worked best or if there were a few aspects from each we could interpret into one poster design.
It was useful because each member of the group focused their poster on different aspects of the film that we could also include, this meant our design not only referenced the artist's and designer's but also the recommended film the branding aspect of the brief is based on. The ideas we each created are seen below. We then decided to create a poll of our favourite design to make the decision as fair as possible ensuring to also include everyone.

Our Poster Ideas
Me
My idea plays on the aspect of travel for the refugees and how we can often associate travelling overseas with the old fashioned tale of a message in a bottle. I used a drawing of a bottle to alter it digitally then played with the layout of type to quite literally illustrate the title by creating a 'side of' and the message inside the bottle contains the word 'hope.' This design is abstract enough but still shows some realism referencing the journey of the refugees from the film. I also recreated the type to what I thought would work best. The colour scheme I kept consistent and was inspired by the film's original poster.

Jake
I liked Jake's idea the most and as a group this was a keen favourite. I liked the idea because of the concept behind the cubes, the coloured cubes and the closed in layout which referenced the film really well through abstraction and symbolism. I also like how much the design relates to the original work and artist's we researched, From Form who actually recommended the movie to us.
