Dealing with Stress
There are many coping mechanisms for stress and every individual has different coping strategies. Through research and investigation I was able to identify common examples of both good and bad ways to deal with stress.
The best ways include:
- Get some fresh air : this helps clear your head and Vitamin D from the sunlight may help boost a person's feel good serotonin
- Rely on rituals: such as your favourite things : favourite music
- Get out of your head : avoiding negative thought
- Connect to your spiritual side
- Visualise : calm
- Take a bath
- Express your gratitude
- Exercise
The worst ways include:
- Hibernate : avoidance just adds to the stress
- Ignore the problem
- Dwell on the negative
- Eat your feelings
It is important to recognise stress to decide what coping strategy works for you. As stress is inevitable, whether it be association with work or your personal life. Personally I can say I handle stress positively through good coping strategies this research has also helped me recognise alternative strategies and most importantly negative ways to avoid.
