Speaking to a Freelance Graphic Designer - Dogtag Creative

Freelance Graphic Designer : Dogtag Creative

(Website : Dogtag Creative : http://www.dogtagcreative.co.uk)

I met with Ash a freelance Graphic Designer which gave me insight into how working practice changes, from working for a company to working for yourself. Ash originally worked for a Graphic Design company but after a few years decided she wanted to generate her own client base working for herself for her own new business. She currently works mainly from home alongside her husband. This enabled her work schedule to be much more flexible, like she wanted allowing her to spend more time with her family mainly her children. Ash spoke about the importance of maintaining clients. When you are a freelance designer your own business specifically can benefit from gaining new clients. New and existing clients encourage client loyalty and can help spread the word of your work as a designer in order to generate even more new clients.

As a whole speaking to Ash helped me to reflect on the differences of a designer may vary within different working practices. It also highlighted the importance of good client and designer relationships when working on a brief. There are so many benefits and effects this can have on freelance design, specifically to Ash on her own business.
