Part 3 : Logotype Initial Ideas

'Overlay' Film Festival 

The name we came up with as a group was 'Overlay' after using personality words referencing our group poster and all the films, we narrowed our brand down to use two key themes these include a minimal and quirky theme. These themes suit both the target audience for the brand as well as the professional look and manner reflecting also on the style all the artist's recommended to us, a more simplistic, professional and perhaps even abstract approach. 

As a group we discussed the main layout of our logotype which can be described as an overlaying circle on a square. The best approach was for us each each to brainstorm adding to this basic layout we decided upon. Therefore each of us now creates their own logo for feedback tomorrow on which works best, or which aspects of each design work well that we could possibly combine our ideas to decide on our final logo for the brand. Below you can see my idea and a few variations regarding stroke colour scheme and layout. 


My idea contains overlaying text to match the name of the brand which I think overall works very well as it gives the name a clear meaning or even background context. The below version of this logo works best in my opinion.
